Base Resource Package

This Package of digital resources provides an overview of the key principles of gifted education, and two 'Introduction to the Key Points' Resources. The first of these is an explanation in response to the question "Why Gifted Education?", providing the rationale or purpose it has for schools and their gifted students.

Additional Resource Package 1: Pre-assessment

Pre-assessment supported by thorough analysis forms the essential bridge between identification and effective differentiation. Additional Package 1 introduces what robust pre-assessment and analysis can provide teachers, as well as the key principles of gifted education and their interplay.

Additional Resource Package 2: Informed Differentiation

In addition to outlining the key principles of gifted education and their interplay, Additional Package 2 provides an overview of informed differentiation, its core features and qualities, and introduces several models commonly used to guide gifted differentiation.

Additional Resource Package 3: Differentiated Assessment

Additional Package 3 presents the key principles of gifted education and their interplay, alongside an overview of the general features of differentiated assessment. It considers both formative and summative approaches and underscores the value of rubrics and high-quality feedback for gifted students.

Additional Resource Package 4: Social and Emotional & Supporting Parents/Carers

Additional Package 4 highlights the often-underestimated complexity of the affective dimension of giftedness and its impact on gifted students. It also presents the key principles of gifted education and their interplay, and offers an overview of the benefits of supporting parents and carers of gifted learners.

Additional Resource Package 5: 2e – Twice Exceptionality

Additional Package 5 introduces an overview of the highly complex area of twice-exceptionality (2e). In addition to the key principles of gifted education and their interplay, the resources in this package clarify the definition of twice-exceptional, outline characteristic behaviours, and explore how 2e students can be effectively identified and supported.
