About Verbs & More: Differentiation & The Revised Taxonomy

Verbs & More: Differentiation & The Revised Taxonomy provides participants with a fresh look at how this familiar model of learning can be more effectively utilised to inject greater intellectual stimulation and challenge into learning for gifted students. It assumes participant knowledge and understanding of the rationale for differentiation and the need for an informed rather than generic approach. (These and more are addressed in the foundational Tailoring Learning Course)

Verbs & More: Differentiation & The Revised Taxonomy is an online course developed by G&t4you Pty Ltd, t/as Gifted Online.  The course is 2 hours in duration. Each module may consist of any of the following: learning content, quizzes and optional self-reflection tasks. 

Context: As outlined in the Australian Teaching Standards (2022), it is every teacher’s responsibility to know how to effectively engage their students in learning. By completing the online course, Verbs & More: Differentiation & The Revised Taxonomy, participants demonstrate an interest in building their skills to support the differing needs of gifted students and an active intention to undertake professional learning in order to  improve their teaching practice.

Learning Outcomes for participants in Verbs & More: Differentiation & The Revised Taxonomy address the following: Participants will:

  • build familiarity with the research and philosophy underpinning the Revised Taxonomy (RT) 
  • explore the possible benefits of using the RT to differentiate learning for gifted students and teachers
  • develop an understanding of the components of the RT
  • explore how the RT supports informed differentiation for the gifted
  • be introduced to differentiated learning design supported by RT within examples
  • develop an understanding of how to map the cognitive and knowledge levels of tasks 
  • engage in self-reflection for improvement
